Giro Commercial Bank (GCB), whose full name is Giro Commercial Bank Limited, is a commercial bank in Kenya. It is one of the forty-four (44) banks licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya, the national banking regulator.[1]

The bank was established as Giro Bank Limited in 1992. In 1998, Giro Bank merged with Commercial Bank Limited, to form Giro Commercial Bank Limited.[2] In October 2005, State Bank of India, paid US$8 million to acquire a controlling stake in Giro Commercial Bank.[3] In December 2008, the total asset base of Giro Commercial Bank was estimated at over US$74 million (approximately KES:5.94 billion).[4] As of December 2009[update], the bank was ranked twenty-eighth (28th) out of Kenya's forty-four (44) commercial banks by assets.[5]
The stock of Giro Commercial Bank is privately owned. State Bank of India (SBI) owns 76% of the shares while other investors own the remaining 24%.
